The 8th Annual Global Virtual Reality Day, taking place on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, is a worldwide movement dedicated to educating more and more people on the technology. The grassroots initiative, in its 8th year, brings together individuals, companies, and organizations to host free public events that introduce audiences to the transformative potential of immersive experiences.
Virtual Reality Day is designed to unite the community, educate the public, and inspire the next wave of innovation. Each event is locally organized, making it a true celebration of creativity and collaboration. Since its inception in 2017, the initiative has grown steadily, with events in 74 cities globally by 2018. This year marks an exciting return to in-person gatherings, highlighting the resilience and dedication of the community.
L+R Barcelona, in partnership with KoiKollektiv, VRARA, and other collaborators, will host an immersive event at our office in Poblenou. This program will feature interactive demos, thought-provoking discussions, and networking opportunities tailored to enthusiasts, developers, and newcomers alike.
A highlight of the event will be the Media View showcase, developed by L+R’s mobile team. Built entirely in Android Studio using Meta's Spatial SDK, this application exemplifies how mobile development expertise can extend seamlessly into the VR and XR space. Attendees will also experience a custom multiplayer VR showroom created by KoiKollektiv, demonstrating the future of immersive collaboration.
