Although some students head to college with a specific career path in mind, the experience often leads them down different paths. That’s what happened to Grace Kim, this year’s L+R strategy intern.
Grace headed to the University of California at Berkeley with the goal of becoming a fashion designer and entrepreneur, focused on the East Asian luxury market. That’s how she selected her major in political economy with a concentration in East Asian international trade.
“I decided I wanted to sit somewhere in the middle of creativity and business and discovered ‘strategy’ as a discipline,” Grace explained. “I loved to help student organizations and really anybody who has a startup idea to help them figure out what makes them special. Later, I learned that that idea is called shaping value propositions and positioning. I also took an introductory class on user experience design during my last year of college and liked the idea of learning how to build a business from customer experiences.”
Grace is excited to learn more about L+R, its customers, and its business during her internship. Her hobbies include drawing, watercolor painting, baking and kickboxing.
