Background

Deuxmoi began as an anonymous Instagram account that transformed into a cultural phenomenon with over two million followers. The platform became the primary destination for real-time celebrity sightings and "Sunday Spotted" reports, but its growth created a functional challenge. The creator needed to transition from a social media account into a multi-vertical media brand, seeking a single source of truth to house her trademark data, newsletters, and shopping recommendations outside the limitations of Instagram’s interface.

The Challenge

The project required L+R to develop a high-utility mobile experience for a self-funded entrepreneur under a strict six-month timeline. The primary hurdle was organizing a massive back-end database containing over 10,000 venues and years of historical sighting data while maintaining a "lo-fi" aesthetic that felt authentic to the brand's insider roots. Additionally, the team had to navigate the ethical complexity of social gossip, ensuring the app provided value to pop-culture aficionados without infringing on the privacy or safety of public personas.

The Solution

L+R utilized its proprietary "Alliance" project management structure, facilitating a synchronized collaboration between our strategy, product design, and engineering departments. We conducted UX research and ethnographic studies on gossip as a pro-social tool to ensure the digital environment mirrored the organic community trust built on social media. To manage the high-volume data influx, we engineered a custom back-end system with a weekly upload cadence, allowing the UI to remain minimalist and "on-brand" while providing users with a "little black book" of celebrity-frequented spas, restaurants, and hotels.

The Impact

The app achieved thousands of downloads within hours of launch and reached over 50,000 registered users by its second year, maintaining a remarkably high 80% engagement rate per session. This performance validated our strategic focus on creating a functional resource that users treat as an essential travel and lifestyle companion. The project’s excellence was recognized globally, earning an Official Honoree spot at the 2025 Webby Awards in the Sports and Entertainment category and winning a W3 Design Award for Tourism and Travel.
